MCI Fellowship Program.

This is a 6-month intensive journalism training program launched in 2018 that is awarded to the best 26 students who emerge from the Inter-University Media Challenge. The fellowship program is based on four pillars: 1) building a "one woman/man – army journalist": a journalist with multifaceted skills and knowledge; 2) Solutions journalism: reporting on solutions shown to be effective at addressing societal problems; 3) Journalism for social change: reporting that advances positive and equitable development in society; 4) Journalist leaders: nurturing fellows not only as skilled journalists but also as leaders in their communities and field of choice. The fellowship training includes small group and individual hands-on skills-building classes as well as leadership and career development. Through practical reporting assignments in a newsroom setting, industry experts train our fellows in online, radio and television journalism, photography, data, investigative journalism, and beat reporting. This year, the fellowship will include an intensive training week in rural public service delivery reporting.
