About this project

What we're building.

Phase 1 of the Next-Gen Journalist Program.

The National Newsroom Contest engages universities and institutes of journalism annually, training students in practical skills and engaging them in live auditions and story competitions. Each year, MCI brings a mobile newsroom to over 15 schools of journalism to provide a chance for up to 50 journalism students at each school to practice their news reporting and anchoring skills live in front of judges. The students are also tasked to produce stories for contests (text, video, podcast, photography, and animation) around thematic areas related to Public Service Delivery in Uganda. This includes solutions journalism stories, where students document community-based solutions shown to be having a positive impact on various issues related to the delivery of public services.
